Water clock – Le Tampon – Reunion island

Designed for the site of the Bois Court belvedere in the commune of le Tampon in Reunion island.

story

Created to celebrate the water capture of the Devil's Bridge, which enabled the development of the town of Le Tampon.

This sculpture was designed to sculpturally inhabit the Bois Court belvedere building.
Indeed, this cubic building has an opening on each side. What could be better than the curve of a huge disc, both transparent and filled with mirrors?
The transparency leads the view of the mountains whose springs produce the life-giving water for visitors glimpsed in the mirrors.
The idea was to showcase the flow of water by creating events every 5 minutes and every 6 hours, at midnight, 6 a.m., 12 p.m., and 6 p.m.
A huge dawn with water inside.

For the main water clock, the flow of water from the top sphere to the bottom sphere takes 6 hours. Turning the water clock over allows for an additional 6 hours, making a total of 12 hours.
For the 6 smaller water clocks, the flow takes 5 minutes for each sphere. When turning the clock over, there are 5 more minutes, making each sphere 10 minutes. With these 6 water clocks, 60 minutes pass.
